Medical Surfaces
ELIPSYS® enables controlled cell adhesion on medical implants and customized surface structures that reduce bacterial attachment.
Controlled Cell Adhesion
Using ELIPSYS®, it has already been demonstrated - for human fibroblasts and osteoblasts - that not only cell adhesion but also cell orientation on various polymers can be precisely controlled.
ELIYSYS® therefore opens new opportunities in tissue regeneration and biocompatible surface design, for example by replacing cost-intensive surface treatments such as sandblasting, cleaning or etching during the preparation of dental implant surfaces.
80% Reduction in Bacterial Adhesion
IInfections caused by multidrug-resistant pathogens lead to up to 148,000 deaths per year in Europe, including many in intensive care units.
With ELIPSYS® the contact interface between bacteria and antimicrobial materials - such as copper - can be precisely engineered.
Achievable effects include:
Up to 80% reduction in bacterial adhesion
More efficient bacterial killing through targeted manipulation of the contact surface
